Red Brick Renaissance – making a cohesive statement

This country home near the Snowy Mountains is now well into the construction phase. Blending the existing house to the new, in collaboration with builder Alex Luke and Greta Unkuri Interiors, we are starting to see the cohesive design come to life.

To rejuvenate the charming brick walls a mix of rough and smooth finishes, cool and warm tones where selected which in turn brings depth and interest to the character of the house. Once considered to be a “safe suburban choice” red bricks are back in vogue, now seen to create a confident style statement. This versatile tone of brick embraces craftsmanship inspired by the Australian landscape. The balance of colours is maintained through neutral white trims, verandah ceiling and entry stairs.

The front façade now incorporates a wide staircase framed by red brick piers to create a streamlined entry to the house. This reinforces the entry visuals that also incorporate evenly spaced posts and piers along the length of the verandah.

Working alongside Greta Unkuri Interiors, the master suite will have a galley style walk-in-robe and office space providing enough desk space for two. The design further enhances the storage opportunities with floor to ceiling joinery made up of open and closed shelves, providing ample options for the owners to organise their wardrobe and office supplies to their hearts content.
